Early Life

Riaan Benadé was born in 1992 in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa. He grew up with his family on their farm in Nylstroom. His family, the Benadés, are well-known in Nylstroom. His Ouma was a beloved music teacher at the high school. 

The singer started to write songs as a teenager of fifteen years. His talent improved in his twenties due to consistency. He then went to study music and knew he wanted to do it.

Education

Riaan majored in light music and jazz. He enjoyed gaining knowledge from his classmates as a music student.

Career

In 2019, he dropped his debut single, Helpende Hande. Many opportunities came with working for Coleske Artists. One of his highlights performing in the Afrikaans is Groot Somerfees. He has also appeared in smaller concerts.

Riaan has also shared the stage with Theuns Jordaan, Steve Hofmeyr, and Dewald Wasserfall. 

Benadé’s first song as a songwriter at Coleske Artsist was Land en Strand for Bok van Blerk. The piece was the theme song of Bok van Blerk’s TV show, with the same title.

The two renditions of the country hit Riaan recorded – Sound of a Million Dreams and Amarillo by Morning – are in volume 3 of Country is Groot.

The singer wrote the hit track Monumentaal. Ruhan du Toit recorded the song, which gained massive airplay. He dropped a solo album Spontaan. The first single from the album is Gooi Nog ‘n Whiskey.

Riaan Benadé is married to Melissa Benadé, an admitted lawyer. The couple welcomed their daughter, Lucca Benadé, in 2022. He loves nature and often posts pictures of him in the wild.

In July 2023, he suffered a stroke and was in Kloof Hospital. After spending time in the hospital, the doctors told him that the symptoms had all disappeared and he had not experienced any new effects.
