Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule (born 7 November 1971) is a South African preacher, evangelist, TV presenter, and entrepreneur. She is best known as the producer and creator of the annual Crown Gospel Music Awards.

Most television viewers know her for her soft-spoken voice and bubbly personality. She was a radio Disk Jockey for a top radio station Ukhozi FM. She joined the television show Gospel Gold on SABC 1 as a presenter.

Zanele is the wife of Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule. Musa Khawula alleged that she was training to become a sangoma. She denied these claims of her becoming a sangoma.

Early Life

Zanele Mbokazi was born on 7 November 1971 in Durban, a coastal city in eastern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She grew up in Durban and attended primary school.

Education

Mbokazi had for her matric at St. Francis College in Marianhill. She enrolled at the University of Natal (now the University of KwaZulu Natal). She completed a BA Degree majoring in English and Politics. 

The television personality holds a BA Honors degree in Media and Communications. More on her qualification is a PR Diploma from Damelin.

Career

 Zanele wears many hats as a speaker, a published author, a businesswoman, and a producer. She joined the media industry in the 1990s after starring in a reality show Livewire on the then NNTV. 

Later in 1995, she became a presenter of gospel music programs and talk shows at Ukhozi FM in Durban. She began to do television work.

In 1997, Zanele started to work as a news and current affairs presenter for SABC1. She began to present the gospel music program Ihora Lokudumisa. 

Mbokazi launched her public relations company, Mirror PR, in 1999. She presented the SABC1 gospel show Gospel Gold and started producing the show in 2007.

The radio personality became the host of season one of the ONE Gospel reality competition Shine in 2010. Fezile Makhanya took over from her in season two.

Mbokazi started to present the SABC1 religious talk show Khwezela/Rekindle with Zanele Mbokazi in 2012. Her company, World Gospel Power House, has masterminded many initiatives. Some of the initiatives’ primary objectives are to build the Kingdom of God.

The evangelist started her company Mirror PR and Events in 1999. The company does event management, communications, PR, and media strategies. Through her company, she has managed many top local and international events.

Former Ukhozi FM presenter Zanele Mbokazi returned behind the mic twenty-three years after she left radio in 2023.

Zanele is the founder and Patron of the Future Leaders Project. Its primary aim is to empower young people with knowledge and skills.

Personal Life

Zanele Mbokazi married Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule of Word of Hope Ministries in 2011. First established in Swaziland, it now has other branches in South Africa. She got married for the second time after divorcing a few years earlier. She shared a picture of her daughter, Yolanda, on Instagram.

To mark her 50th birthday, she held a red and black themed birthday bash at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Durban.
