Early Life
Zandile Hopa was born and raised at NU 3 in Mdantsane, an urban township in East London, the Eastern Cape, South Africa. She stayed with her grandmother before moving in with her biological mother.
Zandile is a Xhosa girl. Her grandparents made attending church a must. Although she had wanted to be a teacher in a primary school, Hopa has always wanted to be on the radio.
Education
Zandile Hopa attended high school in Commercial Park and furthered her academics at Boston Media House. In 2010, she studied Communication and Media Studies. She did an internship at YFM in 2013.
Career
After getting the internship at YFM, she thought it was for radio to learn everything since she studied Media. Eventually, she discovered that it was a radio in the news department. She remained at YFM for seven years.
Hopa has a calm and clear voice when she reads the news on weekdays, from 6 am to 9 am. She works alongside DJ Sabby and Candice.
For her, being a worker at Metro FM is a dream come true. Working with DJ Sabby is fun. They first met at YFM on the drive-time show.
Among her career highlights as a radio personality are working in Best Thing Ever with DJ Sabby, The Lady on Drive with Khutso Theledi, and The Touchdown with Tbo Touch.
