Wandile Bozwana (born in 1972) was a prominent South African businessperson. His death sent shock waves across the North West and the Northern Cape.
The prominent died from gunshots with nine bullet wounds. The incident happened in broad daylight.
Bozwana was sitting on the passenger seat while traveling from Sandton to Pretoria. His killers attacked him on the Garsfontein Road exit from the N1 highway. They shot him nine times from Sandton to Pretoria, and he died at Unitas Hospital.
The court convicted the murderers of the North West multimillionaire businessman in June.
Many suspect the shooting to be a hit as Bozwana was in controversial tenders with the North West government. He made open remarks about the level of corruption the government exhibited in that province.
Bozwana, who often was with bodyguards, sat behind a yellow Renault Clio.
According to Police spokesperson Sergeant Asnath Malatsi, at about 3 p.m., the car stopped at a traffic light when a silver BMW M3 approached.
An occupant of the car jumped out with a firearm fired at the Renault Clio. He then jumped back into the BMW before it sped off.
Bozwana got hit four times in the back and five times around the buttock area. He died at Unitas Hospital.
