Tertius Meintjes is a Zeerust-born South African actor, photographer, and documentary filmmaker. He is best known for playing Joyboy in the 1990 film Agter Elke Man and as Lieutenant Bloem in the 1992 film Sarafina!
The actor has many other roles in many television series. He played flawed engineer Riaan de Wet on the SABC3 soap opera Isidingo. He starred as a womanizer and bully, Frans du Toit, in the kykNET drama series Plek van die Vleisvreters.

Early Life
Tertius Meintjes was born in Zeerust, a commercial town in Ngaka Modiri Molema, North West. He grew up in Grootvlei, Dipaleseng Local Municipality, Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Education
Meintjes obtained a BA in Drama and Literature from the University of Pretoria (TUKS). While in his second year, he starred as Alan Strang in the play Equus. The role earned him the Vita Award for Best Newcomer.
Career
The actor has appeared in many films and has bagged several awards. He won a VITA Award for Best Actor in Jobman, a feature film. He also received the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role opposite Whoopi Goldberg in Sarafina!
Tertius played opposite Martin Sheen in the Floating Outfit. He was opposite Kerry Fox in Friends and opposite Sydney Poitier and Michael Caine in Mandela and De Klerk. He won the Best Script Award for M-Net’s New Directions (The Pink Leather Chair).
Other film credits include Jagveld, Berserker: Hell’s Warrior, Pirates of the Plain, Daisy de Melker, The Good Facist, and The Fourth Reich.
Tertius also has television credits and has appeared in many series and soap operas. He played engineer Riaan de Wet on the SABC3 soap opera Isidingo.
In 2004, he landed the role of Frans du Toit, a ruthless manipulator and leader of a drug ring in the kykNET drama series Plek van die Vleisvreters.
