Ibokwe hosted a two-night performance TheRed Femicycle at the Soweto Theatre in Soweto on the 1st and 2nd of December. He took a break from theatre because it didn’t align with his line of work.

After his studies, he performed abroad since local theatres had not accepted his work. He quit performing and moved to galleries and warehouses.

Albert created The Red Femicycle around 2017 – 2018. It was to comment on what was happening in South Africa and the world. He spends most of his time performing outside South Africa.

Ibokwe had moved his work out of theatres because of those he called gatekeepers, who didn’t think his work belonged to a theatre.
